Cornerstone Youth Group"A stone which the buliders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone." -Psalm 118:22 This psalm refers to Jesus, who became the chief cornerstone in the Kingdon of God. We currently are opened to students in 4th-8th grade, but also will take high school students. We meet every Tuesday from 5:30pm-7:00pm. We begin each meeting with prayer, and then we have dinner (Pizza 99% of the time!). Every month we choose a new topic to learn about our Catholic faith, for an example prayer, the Eucharist, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, etc. Our lesson have a game and/or crafts relating to the lesson. We try to have field trip as often as we can. These feild trips can be fun or faith based. For Example, on Good Friday, 2025, we took the children to see the Christ's Passions Shrine in St. John's, IN. At the shrine they were able to see life-size statues of each Stations of the Cross, as well as visit St. John's Church! We also had time to visit another shrine, Our Lady of Guadalupe in the same location. In the fall, it has become a tradition to go the Thistleberry Farms a local pummkin patch which also offers fall theme games and rides and a themed corn maze. Every last Saturday of the month,at the 5pm Vigil Mass, the Youth Group serves the Mass, and does the readings, announcements, ushering, for the Mass. After Mass, from 6:15-7:15, we have Eucharistic Adoration with Praise and Worship music, with time for group and individual prayer. Following, we have pizza, games in the cafateria of the school, and an open gym for those who want to play. Cornerstone Youth Group is a place of encounter, with God, and with each other. Youth Group is a place where they can feel safe, find peace, and discover true joy, rooted in the truth of the gospel, specifically, the golden rule: "love thy neightbor as thyself." We have volunteer opportunities also. Every last Friday of the month, we take the children to help feed the Homeless at Hope Minustries in downtown South Bend. "truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the lease of these brothers and sister of mine you did for me" Matthew 25:40 We also have a parent group chat on GroupMe where we send updates each week for the parents of the Youth Group children.
